Software & Firmware Upgrade Instructions

NIC Model MA-3000 (SN 12740141 to 15740366)

The following instructions are to be used to upgrade the NIC software and firmware replacing existing Flash Player content.  Please make sure these instructions are exactly followed in sequential order.  Please contact AGS Technical Support with any questions or issues at support@agssci.com.

1. Please download the software and firmware files for your specific analyzer using the following link:      Click Here to Download Files
   

2. Extract the files from the downloaded Zip files by double-clicking on the Zip files and save the extracted files to an easy to access folder on the PC that is connected to the analyzer.
   

3. Prepare the MA-3000 by following the attached PDF "MA_3000_Firmware_Upgrade" to set the dip switches on the mainboard.  Once the dip switches are set, please ensure that the original MA3Win software is closed before proceeding. Open the Firmware Update file that was downloaded in step 1 by double-clicking it.  This will open a firmware update window.
   

4. When the Firmware Update window launches, click the COM Port button in the lower left corner, then select the COM Port being used for your analyzer.  It is usually the only one that shows up in the list.
   

5. With the COM Port selected, click on “PROGRAM”.  The firmware writing module will load and install the new firmware to the MA-3000.  Do not cancel or power OFF once this process has started.
   

6. If the firmware update initially fails, please click “PROGRAM” again to retry.  Please retry up to 3 times, and then if it still will not program, contact us for assistance at support@agssci.com.
   

7. Once the firmware update has completed and finished the verification process, close the firmware update module and power OFF the analyzer.
   

8. Now, open the software file saved to the PC in step 2 above by double-clicking it.  The first time you run this file, it will ask if you want to REPAIR or REMOVE the current software program.  Click the check box next to REMOVE and click OK.
   

9. After the current software program is removed, double-click the new software file again, and follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation of the new software.
   

10. Once the new software has been installed, power ON the analyzer and open the software program.  Your previous data files will all still be in the same folders where they were previously saved.
    

11. If the software stays OFFLINE as indicated in the lower left corner, you may need to set the COM port under the “SYSTEM” menu.
