Replacing the Reagent Pump Motor on the RA-4 Series
1) Power OFF the analyzer.
2) Remove the right side panel of the RA-4 (side with power switch) by removing the Phillips screws in the exterior of the side and then the hex screws on the inside of the panel.
3) Remove the reagent pump head of the pump motor that requires replacement by rotating it counter-clockwise slightly. There is no need to remove the tubing if only the motor is being replaced.
4) Remove the two screws located beneath the pump head to release the pump motor.
5) Looking from the right side panel that was removed, locate the back side of the reagent pump (on the complete other side of the analyzer). Locate the wire connector and disconnect it.
6) Make certain to locate the small plastic gear that fits into the pump motor and connects through the pump housing that is still mounted on the analyzer. See the pictures below:
7) Carefully insert the new motor with the attached gear into the housing such that the protruding tabs on the motor fit into the housing. This will allow for properly alignment. You may find it easiest to have a second person attach the motor via the two small screws through the housing while one person is holding it in place from within.
8) Reinstall the reagent pump head with pump tube. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact AGS Scientific, Inc. for assistance.
