Replacing the Heated Regulator in LP-WA

Replacing the Heated Regulator in LP-WA

Warning
Disconnect all sample cylinders and WA-5 sampling connection, power OFF the LP-WA, and disconnect the power cord on LP-WA before proceeding.

Removing the Regulator

1)  Remove the screws on the top and left side that hold the primary cover in place (top & left side of LP-WA).

2)  Disconnect the two tubing connections from the large T-joint on the left side of the regulator as indicated below:

3)  Remove the blue front cover of the LP-WA by removing the two screws on each side of that cover.

4)  Remove the cover over the electrical connections for the regulator as shown below:

5)  Take a picture of the electrical connections beneath that cover, noting the color of the wires to each connection point under this cover.

6)  Remove each electrical wire by pushing on the spring-loaded piece and pulling the wires out of each connection one at a time.

7)  Once all electrical connections are disconnected, remove the four screws holding the regulator in place as shown below:

6)  Remove the metal cover, exposing the insulation material over the heated regulator.

Alert
DO NOT remove the small tubing connecter from the large connector on the right side of the regulator.  Doing so will cause you to need to replace a ferrule that is not included with the regulator.

7)  Remove the large Teflon T-Joint from the left side of the regulator.

8)  With the regulator now free from all connections except the PEEK fitting on the right, lift the regulator carefully and disconnect the large fitting on its right side.  This will require you to turn the regulator so as to not kink or twist the attached tubing until it is connected.

9)  You can now remove the insulation from the regulator, and set the old regulator aside.

Installing the New Heated Regulator

1)  Remove the old Teflon tape from the two large connectors that were on each side of the old regulator.  Replace both with new Teflon tape, making sure not to have any tape on the connector ends.

2)  Place the insulation onto the regulator, aligning it with the connector holes on each side.

3)  Install the large Teflon T-Joint to the left side of the regulator.

4)  Connect the PEEK fitting to the right side of the regulator, rotating the regulator as need to no kink or twist the attached PEEK tubing (similar to how it was removed).

5)  Set the regulator into place how the old regulator was positioned.

6)  Refer to your picture of the electrical connections and reconnect each wire to the same location as shown.  Make sure the wires only touch each single connections point with no loose strands causing a short.

7)  Place the top cover over the insulation, aligning it with the screw holes in the bracket below.  Install all four screws into the top cover, securing it in place.

8)  Reinstall the electrical box cover (removed in step 4 of removal).

9)  Reinstall the blue front cover and connect the Teflon tubes to each side of the large Teflon T-joint.

10)  Reconnect the power cord, power ON the LP-WA and verify the green light is ON.

11)  After at least 10 minutes, gently touch the top of the regulator to verify it is heating.  If so, reinstall the top cover to complete this procedure.
