PE-1000 H1 Heater Replacement

PE-1000 H1 Heater Replacement

First, you will need to follow the procedure to remove the combustion tube.  (Instructions Here)

Next, remove the nuts circled in Red below and separate the heater from the instrument.

Replace the new heater, paying special attention to the orientation of the heater.

When a new heater is mounted, make a space in between the heater coil to put the thermocouple. (see below)

Next, lightly tighten the nuts to barely finger tight. This will give the heater a little flexibility while re-installing the combustion tube.  Re-install the combustion tube. After the combustion tube is installed, tighten the nuts fully.

Be careful when tightening the nuts that the whole heater assembly does not move out of position.

With the nuts tightened, you will now need to slide the thermocouples of the H1, H2, and H3 back into proper position.  (These were moved during the combustion tube removal process)  The combustion tube has indentations in the quartz where each thermocouple tip is to be placed.  Please take proper care that they are placed correctly in position.

With the thermocouples in the correct position, tighten the screws that hold the thermocouples in position so that they can not move.

Re-install the white heater insulation that was removed during the combustion tube removal process.

Reconnect the joint on the bottom of the combustion tube.

Replace all protective coverings and resume normal operation.
