MA-3 Solo Manual Leak Check

MA-3 Solo Manual Leak Check

This manual leak check procedure should be run if the auto leak check fails during self test to help identify the location of the leak
If bubbling does not occur, or is weak, in the humidification bottle proceed with the following steps:

                          3)      The flow rate should drop to .001 or lower, please allow at least 10-15 seconds for the flow to drop to .001.  If the flow drops to .001 within 15 seconds then there is no leak.  If the flow rate is not able to drop to .001 then there is a leak.  The higher the flow rate during this procedure the larger the leak.  To find the leak use the picture below as a guide of places to check downstream in the flow path until you find the spot where it passes the leak check (drops to .001), the leak will be between that location and the previous location that you checked.  After the initial check point in Step 2, next move to the fitting labeled 24 in the picture below.  Remove it from the gold trap, tighten the fitting all the way onto the joint and then plug that hole with your finger.  If it passes the leak test at this location then the leak is between the gold trap and the sample inlet.  If it fails the leak test at fitting 24, turn the V1 valve off using the software, and then check the inlet of the flowcell under the fitting labeled 26 in the picture.  Next, move to the inlet of the V2 valve which is where the burnt orange tubing, Labeled 5, is connected to.  Remove the Tygon tubing and plug the barb on the inlet of the valve.  Next, check the outlet port on the V2 valve by removing the pink tubing in the picture labeled 7, and plugging the end of the tubing that was removed.  Next disconnect the fitting marked 28 in the picture and plug the purple side with your finger.  And lastly, disconnect the Teflon Disc filter located near the area labeled 9 in the picture and plug your finger over the tubing going to the flow sensor.
