This procedure will walk you through how to replace the lamp on the MA-2000. It can also be used if the lamp needs to be adjusted for correct voltage readings.
1. Open the front of the system
2. Open the optics box
3. Remove the cell, tubing, etc. (While it's removed, clean the cell to prepare for later optic adjustments)
4. Remove the screws keeping the cover intact
5. Pull off the cover
6. Remove the lamp at the bottom by removing the two screws that hold the bracket in place
7. You can now remove the lamp/heater jacket assembly. Remove the two screws indicated below. If possible, note the orientation of the lamp that is being removed.
8. Insert the new lamp in the same fashion as the one previously removed; paying close attention to the orientation of the filaments of the new lamp is in the same position as the one that was removed.
9. Reverse the steps to reinstall the lamp
Let the system warm up 20-30 minutes. Check the voltages under the maintenance screen. They should hopefully be in
the 3-5V range. If not, please contact tech support to get further instructions.
10. Slide the MA-2000 toward the front edge of the counter to where the legs are right at the edge.
11. Underneath the body of the MA-2000, you will see two holes that control the optic box. These will be used to
adjust the voltage to 4.0V.
12. Using a small, NON-MAGNETIZED flat head screwdriver, find the screw in the REF hole and try to adjust the REF
voltage to 4.0
13. Return the MA-2000 to its original position
If you can't get the signal or reference to go to 4.0V (aka they are maxed out in one direction) the lamp will
need to be rotated to focus more/less light to the detectors. It's not difficult, but we do see it happen. If this is
the case call tech support to get further instructions.
