Adjusting the Optics for WA-5F

Adjusting the Optics for WA-5F

This procedure should only be performed if recommended by an AGS Scientific technical support agent.  Please do not try to perform this without prior approval.

Adjusting the optics for the WA-5F Mercury Analyzer may become necessary due to drift in the lamp or electronics of the analyzer.  If a technical support agent recommends this adjustment, please follow the instructions below:

1)  Make sure that the WA-5F has been blanked down completely.  This is confirmed when three consecutive blank measurements show no considerable decrease in response.

2)  In the software, click on "Run" and then click on "Maintenance" to open the Maintenance window.  Allow the software to initialize and populate with data.  Once you see numbers next to SIG (v) and REF (v), then the Maintenance screen has connected.

3)  Click the "Parameter2" tab along the top right of the window, and then enter the password:  0219.

4)  Click on the "AFS" tab in the new area that opens up.  You should now see the "Optical Adjust" button in the middle of the screen.

5)  Click on the "Optical Adjust" button, and then click on "Auto Adjust" in the lower left corner of the Optical System Adjustment screen.

6)  The Zero and Span for both the Signal (Sig) and Reference (Ref) will be automatically adjusted by the software.  Please do not touch the analyzer or open the blue lower door during this process.  It is best that the system is left to complete this process automatically with no outside interference.

7)  When completed, there will be an audible beep.  At that time, you may click "Exit" to close each of the open windows until the Maintenance screen has been closed.  The WA-5F will initialize and then go into a Ready state as indicated in the lower left corner of the software.
If there are any complications during this procedure, please contact AGS Scientific, Inc. for additional assistance.
